Saturday Routine…
Well, get up, and watch the boy swim… I can’t express how proud I am of my son. In the fall of 2022, he came home from school one day and asked if he could try out for the swim team.
I of course said yes, and got him signed up for the Sarnia Rapids and he’s been enjoying it ever since. It means he’s up early for an 11 yr old on Saturdays and grabs his swim bag with his suit, towel, and goggles. Off he goes!
I enjoyed swimming at Huron Oaks on the swim team what somedays feels like yesterday, then I remembered I’m 50… it was a helluva long time ago! But that sparked an entire young adult career of nearly 15 years of lifeguarding and swimming instruction. I still to this day feel that those are 2 of the best jobs you can possibly have. You learn how to help people and react in an emergency situation, but you also learn how to teach others a valuable skill. Those 2 things in life can be replicated in nearly any job.
Getting back to my son and why I’m proud of him – he wanted to try something, he did and he’s enjoying it. He has some friends in it he knows, some he doesn’t and has met along the way and every once and a while – he goes to a swim meet and gets to see his name on the lighted scoreboard.
So, I’m going to get back to laundry – have a good day everyone!
